Senior Director, Creative

Job Description

The Lukens Company (TLC), a direct response marketing agency, is looking for an experienced Senior Director, Creative to lead our graphic design department, guiding a talented team of designers who are known for exceptional and award-winning creativity in the political and nonprofit space.

The ideal candidate will bring a mix of creative design, direct marketing, and business expertise to the position, and be a strong leader who can inspire and develop those around them.

This is a full-time position and will work out of corporate headquarters in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Improve graphic design department standards for quality of service, speed of delivery, and cost efficiency.
  • Build and maintain a strong team. Support the professional growth of direct reports through coaching and development.
  • Provide ideas and design creativity for our client’s work by participating in brainstorming sessions and client meetings.
  • Collaborate with leaders of other departments to improve client service and accomplish business objectives.
  • Identify additional creative service offerings and develop plan to bring to market.

Job Qualifications

  • Direct marketing design experience (Direct Mail, Digital) in non-profit, cultural, faith-based, and/or political space.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.)
  • Experience managing department budgets, team efficiency, and profitability.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and to clearly articulate and present creative concepts to internal peers and to clients and potential clients.
